NETWORKING OPPORTUNITIES 

AGC of DC offers some great venues to mix and mingle in a casual atmosphere with some of the industry's notables in the area. Events include Spring Fling, the Annual Golf Tournament, Summer Networking with Subs, the Washington Contractor Awards and Holiday Party are long time traditions at AGC.

Monitoring of legislation that impacts the construction industry in the DC Metropolitan area. Legislative outreach to legislators primarily in the District of Columbia as well as Maryland and Virginia when there is a significant impact on Northern VA or Montgomery and PG Counties. In the District, some of our priorities are monitoring First Source, Project Labor Agreements, DC Sick Leave, Apprenticeship Programs, Employment Practices, Green Building, LSDBE regulations, and Procurement policies.

OWNER LIASON

Working with area owners, developers, and Government officials to improve procurement practices, update members on construction opportunities and develop best practices for the industry, Hosting Owner/Contractor Forums to discuss procurement and delivery is of the utmost importance to our membership. AGC of DC engages with area owners to develop best practices for project delivery methods, contractor involvement, and sharing of information for positive project outcomes. Through forums with such organizations as GSA, USACE, NAVFAC, DDOT, VDOT, MDOT, MWAA, WMATA, The Smithsonian Institute, DC Dept of General Services, The Federal Reserve, DC Water, George Mason University and other private owners and developers, AGC brings together Owners and Contractors to share information and find solutions to industry issues and problems.

EDUCATION & TRAINING

AGC of DC provides specialized and timely training that isn’t commonly found elsewhere. BIM, LEAN, Stormwater Management, Healthcare Construction, Silica, innovation in Technology, and our Masters Construction Leadership Program are just a few.

Building our future Industry Leaders: The Young Constructors Forum Recognizing the importance of developing future leaders for their companies and the industry, AGC of DC has invested in providing a vehicle for young professionals to be educated, network with their own peers, and get involved in community outreach like teaching introduction to construction at Phelps High School, working with the Canine Wounded Warrior Program and Building structures for Canstruction benefitting the DC Capital Area Food Bank.

SPECIALTY CONTRACTORS COUNCIL

The Specialty Contractors Council was formed in 2020 and is guided by a group of Subcontractor members who report to the AGC board of directors on issues of interest to the Subcontracting Community and plan programs for its members in conjunction with General Contractor members.

THE WASHINGTON CONTRACTOR AWARDS PROGRAM

It’s all about our talented members and AGC of DC goes all out at The Washington Contractor Awards. Now in our 20th year, it is our most prestigious event. Contractors are recognized for their excellence in project management, subcontractors for their role on the projects, and Architects and Owners for working closely with Contractors for the best project outcomes. Area Owners, Developers, and Design Professionals are the judges for our awards program now in its 20th year. The AGC of DC Board of Directors and Members also vote to recognize the Owner, Architect, and Subcontractor of the Year.
